I’m sooooo excited! I found my old class photo from spring, 1963!

Kristinebergs Skola, First Grade, Spring 1963

Well, this was a great surprise!  I have been looking for this photo for quite a while; I knew I had it somewhere, but after a pretty thorough search last year, I had given up.  Lo and behold, today when I was looking for something else, I found it!  As you can see, this is from Spring 1963, second semester of first grade for me.  This was at Kristinebergs Skola, in the Kungsholmen part of Stockholm, Sweden.  Our head teacher was Mrs. Gärd Froster, and in 1962-1963 (first grade for me) and 1963-1964 (second grade), Mrs. Froster was in her last years of teaching, waiting to retire, so she did not have much patience left for us little kids, and I hope she enjoyed her retirement.  My classmates were the following:

Lynn Dahlström, Hans Wallster, some girl I was infatuated with (ergo the empty spot in the class picture; I remember I had a huge crush on this girl, so I cut out her picture and kept it in my wallet), unfortunately after more than 60 years, I forgot her name, Stefan Nilsson, Åsa Hammar, Sven Thorén, Jan-Ola Norrman, Solveig Mets, Hans Olofsson, Anita Lindståhl, Kent Becker, Eva Petterson, Per Öberg, Margareta Lundgren, Benkt Hedén and Kristina Häll.

When my wife Kathy and I went back to Sweden in December 1986, we were walking around my old neighborhood on Kungsholmen, and we happen to walk by this little hairdresser / beauty parlor, and one of my old classmates was working there as a hair dresser (I’m sure it was Hans Wallster), and we reminisced for a while.  A small world indeed!  I sincerely hope that all of my old classmates are alive and well, and if you know who the girl is that I cut out, please let me know!
