Smack Dab Christmas Show at the BlasMo in Laguna Hills, CA on December 13, 2025

So, we had the unmitigated pleasure of taking part of the BlasMo Christmas Party, which took place on Santa Lucia day (a Swedish pre-Christmas celebration, for all you non-Swedes), Saturday December 13, 2025.  We have been playing together now for more than two years, and it continues to be a bunch of fun.  Now, playing at the BlasMo has its benefits; they have a full backline and PA, and also a house drum kit, so we don’t need to schlep any instruments.  All I do is switch around the house kit from its normal right-handed setup to a lefty, something that usually takes me less than five minutes.  However, since the BlasMo is a club for musicians, the audience is made up of probably 75% musicians from every level; amateur to professional.  So, as you can imagine, it can be a bit intimidating, but it is a very cool and relaxed crowd, and we all support each other, and the additional pressure hopefully makes us tighten up and do our best.

As usual, our guitarist Marc had put together a Christmas-related setlist for our 45-minute show, complete with a few Christmas songs:

And as always, it was super fun to play with Smack Dab again, and I can't wait for our next gig!

Lars’ Latest Health Issue: But this time it is different!

 The Deadly Raisin Bread...   S o it is about a quarter ‘till 9 PM on Thursday the second of October, 2025, and we are just about ready to go to bed.   I’m downstairs getting Lars his Apoquel pill for his allergies, wrapped up in a piece of turkey, as is our habit.   After his pill, Lars rushes up the stairs to the bedroom where he sleeps.   So far so good…   We had brought up a couple pieces of yummy raisin bread for a little evening snack (yes, I know, it is not a good habit, but it is soooo yummy), and left it on the dresser upstairs.   Well, as you can probably guess by now, as soon as Kathy comes in to the bedroom, Lars is wolfing down the raisin bread, like there is no tomorrow.   At first I thought it was funny; here goes Lars again snatching food whenever he can, be it somebody’s sandwich, a whole mackerel, a turkey drumstick or leftovers.   However, Kathy quickly realized that grapes can be toxic to dogs, and if raisins are just...

Smack Dab playing at the World Famous Rib Joint in Dana Point, CA on Sunday October the 12th, 2025.
