Smack Dab doing a Blues Showcase at the BlasMo in Laguna Hills, 11-16-2025.

Smack Dab is Lloyd Brown, lead vocals and guitar; Allison Friedman, lead vocals and guitar; Marc Repaire, lead guitar and vocals; Kent Richards, bass and vocals and myself on drums.  You can reach us at SmackDabGroup@gmail.com.

Smack Dab had the pleasure of playing a blues gig at the BlasMo (Billiards Lounge Artist Sanctuary Music Oasis) Club, aka The Mo, on Sunday the 16 of November, 2025.  Just so you know, the Mo is (according to their Facebook page):

““The Mo" is a private member supported musicians and artist club playhouse and audio/video recording studio.

Home of the Orange County Musicians Network, Laguna Jam Troupe, OC Jam Club and Laguna Records, The Mo is a safe haven for artists to hone in their crafts, relax & hang out and jam with peers.

With the best back-line sound stage, Mo will be featuring live stream web/pod casts and performances featuring the OC's top bands, singer/songwriters, comic's, magicians as well providing a venue for artist showcase's and exhibits.

Members all share the ideology that unity through the arts is more vital then ever therefore the focus is always on what we have in common.”  (By the way, as a little plug for “The Mo”, here is some contact info:  https://www.blasmostudio.com/membership)

We have quite a few bluesy songs in our “normal” repertoire, but we also added Going Down by Freddie King (which has been covered by Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Joe Bonamassa to mention a few artists).  We had been allotted about 40 minutes for our set, and as usual Marc and Allison had put together a great set list for this event:

Our Set List for the Blasmo Blues gig, just enough songs for a 40 minute showcase gig!

One of the great things about playing at the BlasMo is the fact that they have a complete backline with a PA and drums, so no need to schlep heavy equipment!  Even though we switched Circle Of Monkeys and No Angels around, we did a high energy set, and we had a great time!  Any gig is a great gig, and it is a privilege to play at The Mo, and their parties are down-right legendary!

As usual for a gig like this (or any gig for that matter), we did quite a bit of practicing, and here are most of the songs that I’ve captured with my old Samsung S10+ during practice:
