05-10-2025: Smack Dab playing at The Rib Joint

 

On Saturday, May 10, 2025 Smack Dab played again at “the world famous Rib Joint” in Dana Point, CA.  The Rib Joint sits right on Pacific Coast Highway, which runs right through Dana Point.  The Rib Joint is quite unique, a bit rough around the edges, but they have great food, and they have live music most every weekend.  For a couple of video clips, you can check out my little YouTube channel: @peterlindwall8875.

The Rib Joint, 34294 Pacific Coast Highway, Dana Point, CA

If you can bring a crowd, you too can play at The Rib Joint, I’m sure!  We usually bring some 15-25 people, our core fan club!  We have played at the Rib Joint 5-6 times since I joined Smack Dab some 2 years ago, and it is a fun and laid back place to play.  Playing inside in the winter (whatever winter is in Dana Point, ha, ha, ha) is a bit cramped, especially for a five-piece band like us, but we squeeze in.  In the spring and summer we play outside, which is great fun!  The hours are good; usually 6pm to 9pm, and we even get paid a bit; enough for some food and gas for the ride home!  So all in all, a great gig, and it is always fun to play live music!  An added bonus is the proximity to San Clemente, it usually only takes me 10 minutes to drive home (after an hour of loading up the drums and the PA of course)…  We gotta get out and play!!!!!

Lars’ Latest Health Issue: But this time it is different!

 The Deadly Raisin Bread...   S o it is about a quarter ‘till 9 PM on Thursday the second of October, 2025, and we are just about ready to go to bed.   I’m downstairs getting Lars his Apoquel pill for his allergies, wrapped up in a piece of turkey, as is our habit.   After his pill, Lars rushes up the stairs to the bedroom where he sleeps.   So far so good…   We had brought up a couple pieces of yummy raisin bread for a little evening snack (yes, I know, it is not a good habit, but it is soooo yummy), and left it on the dresser upstairs.   Well, as you can probably guess by now, as soon as Kathy comes in to the bedroom, Lars is wolfing down the raisin bread, like there is no tomorrow.   At first I thought it was funny; here goes Lars again snatching food whenever he can, be it somebody’s sandwich, a whole mackerel, a turkey drumstick or leftovers.   However, Kathy quickly realized that grapes can be toxic to dogs, and if raisins are just...

Smack Dab playing again at the Rib Joint in Dana Point, CA on Saturday 06-07-2025
